Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) defines Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development (SARD) as a process which meets the following criteria:
The Bahrain International Garden Show 2012 will showcase pratices which enchances the economic viability of agricultural production. It will also demonstrate that in practics, agricultural sustainability also includes budgetary and politically acceptanble policies of govermental aid to help transtion farming to more sustainable practices, such as control prices of food and prevent environmental harms, Information will be provided on sustanable indicators at two different scales: that relevant to national, regional industry policy making, and that relevant to farming management decisions
Through its elaborate exhibits displays, lectures, demonstration and publications, the Bahrain International Garden Show 2012 will show that sustainable agriculture requires the restructing of producers, buyers, investors, regulalators, traderss, wholesalers, retailers, as well as consumers towards breaking perverse practices that encourage soil depletion and agribusiness favoritsm, while promoting water conservation, higher producer income, and protection of biodiversity
